With nearly 500,000 hard-working residents, Dane County, Wisconsin, has the fastest growing population of any county in Wisconsin.

At the center of Dane County lies Madison, home to the State Capitol, the University of Wisconsin, the world-class Overture Center for the Arts, plus an array of parks, lakes, and unique neighborhoods. With a personality all its own, Madison is home to diverse cultural opportunities, fine dining and shopping, and a host of year-round events and festivals.

Surrounding Dane County’s urban center are many smaller communities that enjoy breathtaking scenery and natural resources, as well as recreational opportunities that include hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails. Considered among the most productive soils in the world, Dane County is particularly proud of its agricultural heritage.

Dane County's vital and dynamic workforce is the result of an outstanding education system, a diverse economy, and successful partnerships between the private and public sectors. Top employers include Epic Systems, American Family Insurance, UW-Madison, and the county’s many healthcare systems.  Dane County’s 2010 population was 488,073. The county seat is Madison.
