Per Capita Income in the Madison Region consistently ranks above the Wisconsin statewide average and on par with the national average. Between 2000 and 2008, per capita income increased by close to 30% within the region, reaching $39,636 in 2008. Columbia, Iowa, and Sauk counties all experienced an increase greater than the national average.

 

Median household income within the Madison Region was close to $56,000 in 2008, 9% higher than the U.S. average of $51,369. The region's employees have long enjoyed average salaries and household incomes higher than the nation’s majority due largely to our workforce’s high educational attainment level.
