Both Microsoft and Google, two companies that represent the enabling technology of IT, recently opened locations in the region.
Sunny Gettinger, global communications and public affairs manager for Google said in a statement, "We are opening an office in Madison because the city offers an
excellent quality of life, a deep local talent pool, and commitment to education at all levels, including the University of Wisconsin."
In a similar vein, UW Madison computer science department chair Guri Sohi said, "The high-tech companies don't go where all the different incentives are, they go
where the talent and the brains are. And that's why Microsoft is coming here."
