Local Dirt, a Madison company that helps local farmers and agricultural producers sell their food to restaurants, stores and individual consumers, has received its first venture funding from Peak Ridge Capital’s AgTech Fund, based in Boston, and O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures in San Francisco.
Local Dirt founder Heather Hilleren would not disclose the amount of the investment but said it is more than $1 million. The money will be used to “get the word out” that the service is available nationwide, Hilleren said.
