Local transportation officials are heading to Washington D.C. this week to try to get the wheels moving for federal funding of commuter rail here.
Meanwhile, on the home front, County Board supervisors are holding informal listening sessions for the next two weeks for feedback from the public on how they feel about establishing a regional transportation authority (RTA). No public hearings have been held yet, even though the County Board and Madison City Council have already passed resolutions approving setting up an RTA to be the money handler for a plan that could cost up to $285 million.
