Wisconsin employers that meet specific requirements are required to carry Worker's Compensation insurance unless they qualify for self-insured status.
Employers receive the assurance they will not be sued for damages, medical care and lost wages if their employees get injured while working.
Worker's Compensation insurance rates vary among industries, are established by the
Wisconsin Worker's Compensation Rating Bureau, and are approved by the
Office of the Commissioner of Insurance.
Effective October 1, 2007, the State of Wisconsin, Office of the Commissioner of Insurance has approved an overall decrease in rate level of 2.47%, applicable to new and renewal business only.
