Wisconsin wins more value-added grants than any other state
MADISON - Governor Jim Doyle today announced that 24 Wisconsin agri-businesses have been awarded more than $7 million to help grow Wisconsin agriculture and boost energy independence. The funds will be used for developing and marketing value-added agricultural products and for farm-based renewable energy projects including three anaerobic digesters.
"Agriculture is the backbone of our state economy," Governor Doyle said. "For Wisconsin to thrive, our agricultural industry needs to be prepared for the future. I'm pleased to see the innovation of Wisconsin agri-businesses is leveraging federal dollars that will help meet the demands of our economy - from advancing economic development and creating new jobs, to taking steps toward energy independence."
