As part of Thrive's Biotechnology Talent Initiative to augment the talent recruitment efforts of local biotechnology companies, the Badger Career Network Alerts project aims to "boomerang" management and scientific talent back to the eight-county Madison Region to fill specific company positions. Thrive and its primary partner, the
Wisconsin Alumni Association, will strategically leverage the WAA alumni network, outreach channels, the Thrive website, and the region's quality of life as recruitment tools.
Sector industry partners in biotechnology told Thrive that talent recruitment was a top, pressing issue for their businesses. Employers in the Madison Region's biotech sector are grappling with unfilled vacancies and searching for top talent. The UW exports top talent every year - talent that might want to return to the region. WAA survey research indicates that a full 61% of people who have 'experienced the university' would come back to Madison Region if the opportunity presented itself.
With those facts in mind, Thrive and the Wisconsin Alumni Association is bringing together employers in biotechnology to design a system for making targeted connections between top talent and business in the region.
Participating employers include: Covance, Danisco, Dean Health System, Epic Systems, Mentor Corporation, Meriter Hospital, Monroe Clinic, Promega Corporation, SSM of Wisconsin, St. Mary's Hospital, UW Hospital & Clinics, UW Medical Foundation, and Virent Energy. (This is a joint project with healthcare.)
Thrive is measuring its success in this scalable project through the number of positions filled via the alerts system.
