Milwaukee 7 looking past downturn to viable clusters
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 11.29.08
Even as the economic structure of the United States is being reshaped, economic and political leaders in the Milwaukee 7 region continue to weld into place elements of a forward-looking strategic framework.
The emphasis continues to be on clusters and sub-clusters. The latest additions to the framework are food processing and instrumentation/controls. The M-7 Council paid a consultant to find those as sweet spots for the region.
They are not dissimilar from the findings of the four economic summits at the beginning of the decade that identified clusters for emphasis in the state. Agri-business and advanced manufacturing were among the 10 clusters staked out for growth across the state.
