According to the National Assessment of Adult Literacy, 36% of all Americans fall into reading levels that are basic or below basic. St. Mary’s Hospital will soon become a pilot site to help develop and test solutions to this problem thanks to a $10,000 grant from the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation awarded to Dr. Paul Smith, Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health.
