Whether we're moving people or goods, the ways we access transportation impacts our lives on a daily basis. That's the reason we believe it's important that our region offers safe, efficient, accessible, and convenient transportation systems for residents, visitors, and industry.
In the Madison Region, we have:
- An outstanding region-wide road network, with significant investment
improvements that connect people and jobs
- A regional airport that connects us to global and regional hubs in minutes, plus a number of municipal airports
- Expansive rail infrastructure
- A commitment to and investment in alternative transportation solutions
The region believes in a proactive approach to transportation solutions.
Connections 2030, a long-range transportation plan for Wisconsin, addresses all forms of transportation over a 25-year planning horizon, identifying a series of policies to aid transportation decision-makers in evaluating programs and projects. Other programs include
Community Car, a member-based, "time-share" car service supporting sustainable mobility.
The Madison Region is also home to the
Dane County Regional Airport (airport code: MSN), where more than 100 commercial flights depart and arrive daily. The 1.6 million passengers who use DCRA yearly travel nonstop to Atlanta, Chicago (O'Hare), Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Detroit, Kansas City, Memphis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, New York (LaGuardia), Newark, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C. The airport also offers access to the entire globe through connecting hubs.
